Video about Lowcountry foodways

Gullah Grub restaurant
Bill Green, chef and owner of Gullah Grub, was born on James Island, so he knows his stuff. If you want honest to goodness red rice, this is where to get it. One of my friends is addicted to the collard greens. The video is by Outside the Box Media.

Bluffton Oyster Company
The Toomer family has long been a part of the maritime heritage here in the Lowcountry. In addition to its famous oysters, the market sells shrimp and crabs, too. The Toomers also do catering, and they are especially well known for their oyster roasts.

John Trask introduces us to Pritchards Island
John grew up in Beaufort and he works with Lowcountry Real Estate. This video is from the company's blog. It really captures the thrill of being in the barrier islands near Beaufort -- and the kids are catching some nice fish!

Carolina Caught (2009) contains breathtaking footage of shrimpers in the Lowcountry, including Steve Kerchner of Beaufort. It is also the first SCETV production filmed in HD. Filmmaker Mark Adams has published some background material on the website for his production company, Adamstar Pictures. He showcases beautiful still photos and intriguing comments from some of the principals. There's also footage of my sister-in-law, Amber Von Harten, who was interviewed in her capacity as a SC Sea Grant Consortium fisheries specialist.
